Martin Izaak, Principal Engineering Consultant
He provides consulting services, litigation support, and expert testimony to legal and insurance professionals.
Engineering management consultant/expert witness; extensive knowledge of design, construction of major projects, and experience in litigation process, with over thirty years of hands-on work experience. Specializing in electric utility practices, transportation, and infrastructure. Works closely with attorneys by providing claim analysis and litigation support services for cases involving personal injury, arising from utility / transportation operations and construction delays. Experience with large projects within the utility industry (Consolidated Edison Co. of New York, New York Power Authority, and Washington Public Power Supply System). Design/construction of: nuclear/fossil power plants; high voltage transmission lines; and installation of computer facilities.
Project Management responsibilities for the complete renovation of large-scale multiple dwelling projects; schools; large infrastructure projects (NYC Bridges/Tunnels, the JFK International Airport and capital construction projects involving commuter rail lines in the Metropolitan New York).
During his career, Mr. Izaak gained experience on large engineering/construction projects with electric utilities, large scale residential housing projects, schools, and transportation projects.
In the past, Mr. Izaak was employed by Consolidated Edison Co. of New York , New York Power Authority, and Washington Public Power Supply System. Some of the projects involved the design/construction of nuclear/fossil power plants, high voltage transmission lines and the installation of computer facilities. In addition, he had project management responsibilities for the complete renovation of large scale multiple dwellings, and schools. Additionally he had responsibility as the Oversight Program Manager to monitor large construction projects at NYC MTA Bridges/Tunnels, Transit, Railroads, the JFK International Airport.
Mr. Izaak earned an MBA degree in Engineering Management from Long Island University, a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from New York Institute of Technology and a Certificate in Project Management from Harvard University.
Mr. Izaak rendered his expert opinion on project delay claims and litigation cases involving personal injury caused by utility practices and/or manufacturers of electrical apparatus. Mr. Izaak testified in New York State Supreme Court, Southern District Court in New York and the American Arbitration Association.
Mr. Izaak was appointed to the Commercial/Construction Panel of Arbitrators at the American Arbitration Association in 1986. In this capacity he served as one of three panelists, and as a sole arbitrator on numerous cases involving construction disputes.
Mr. Izaak is a life senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), member of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), a member of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), member of the Metropolitan Railway Club of NY, member of Association for Conflict Resolution of Greater NY (ACR-GNY), past member of Project Management Institute (PMI), Chairman of the New York Engineering Management Society (IEEE), past Chairman and co-founder of the New York Consultant's Network of IEEE, and past Chairman of New York/North Jersey chapter of Engineering Management Society.
